Following the trail of a lost Vermeer painting, the movie tells the story of the lives of the people who owned it. The anger, betrayal, love, and sacrifices it caused. The paintings history is told in separate stories set in six different eras. The present, the 1940-ties, 1880-ties, 1830-ties,1720-ties and 1670-ties.
Based on the novel Girl in Hyacinth Blue by Susan Vreeland.
